photography

I have just used a digital camera to take these photos:

Greetings from one cat,

Two cats (Sasha and Sam respectively; scaredy, sleek and scruffy, sure respectively.)

My minor attempt to improve the aesthetics of the yard (the strategically-placed palm leaf). Taken from the roof (the shot, not the leaf.).

My sister took these ones of myself (shown now because I've rarely had a recent photo of myself)

Squished into a grapefruit tree.

I'm less flexible than I would like; I am training to improve this. Notice how my eyes got pink so quickly (I'd only been inverted about 30 seconds). I noticed the wrong shirt color in this and corrected it with GIMP. The original color shown was as in the first pic; the actual color is a light blueish-green rather than a medium greenish-blue.

I took some photos of my sister in exchange; they're not shown here because that's up to her to decide if it's ok.

I also took some botanical shots, including a 'looking up at patches of light through tree canopy' shot that I often could use as a ref.
A few were ruined by lack of focus (trying to take a photo of a 1cm object in auto mode does not work well.)
photosynthesis (Work in Progress)

First entry; no complicated metadata here. This entry at least, is hand-written.

This image came about primarily because my head got too full. I've been working hard on improving my anatomical skills, so drawing environments is even more relaxing than usual.
My mind was clearly resting on 'Flink' and 'Hocus Pocus' at the time.
I enjoy most of it, though it's very rough yet. The tree trunk invokes questions.

Technically:
I based this palette on a palette I previously built by tweaking a greyscale ramp using my recently-developed quick color adjust tools. In conjunction with 'colormap arrange' to get the colors ordered as I like, this has been very effective. The ink tool was used almost exclusively (you should know, it is hard edged on indexed images, which is very useful.) The shading, particularly on the top-left, is not right (its left.) The positioning of background objects is not final; they are on another layer so I adjust them easily. I also intend to add a midground layer (solid rock parts that are behind the foremost layer.)

NEXT:

-- added midground and the remaining foreground outline.

NEXT:

-- worked on the lighting.

NEXT:

-- worked on the lighting and depth.

NEXT:

-- added a wonderful looking character and slightly less wonderful looking item.

NEXT:

-- This update primarily improves the colors. Looks like I'm going to end up with about 32 colors. The moon is there, unrendered -- mainly for my reference, currently.

NEXT:
-- added preliminary clouds, reflected moonlight (very little direct moonlight yet)

LATEST:
-- hovering snakes, further fglayer work, mood improvements (thanks Longetech!)
